Delayed Release of the Modernized NSRS

The National Geodetic Survey (NGS) announced a delay in the release of the National Spatial Reference System of 2022 (NSRS 2022).  The new system will be replacing the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD83) and North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88).  At this time, there is no exact date when the new system will be released, though NGS believes it should be available somewhere in the 2024-2025 timeframe.  The delayed release will not affect the deadlines for stakeholders to submit requests, proposals, and design submittals to the NGS regarding the State Plane Coordinate system of 2022 (SPCS2022).  More information can be found on the NGS New Datusm FAQ webpage.

**Note, this article was been corrected on 7/8/2020.  Previously, the article said the release of the SPCS2022 would not be delayed.  Requests for proposal and design submittals for SPCS2022 will not be delayed but the release of the SPCS2022 will be delayed along with the other terrestrial reference frames.
