Geo-Enabling US Elections

In 2017, the National States Geographic Information Council (NSGIC) launched the Geo-Enabled Elections project, which focused on working with states and territories to expand GIS technology in election administration.  Using GIS in elections has been found to streamline traditionally manual and time-consuming processes while also minimizing errors and improving voter trust in the election systems.  As of 2022, 86% of US state and territories have participated in the project with 39% of now using geoenabled voter registration systems.
