GTCM Important Updates Published

This month, important updates were published to the Geospatial Technology Competency Model (GTCM).

The GTCM was originally developed by the GeoTech Center, an initiative of community colleges, and continues to be maintained through a collaborative effort between the GeoTech Center, the US Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration, and industry leaders.  The model was designed to assist with career guidance, curriculum development and assessment, recruitment and hiring, continuing professional development, criteria for voluntary certification, and outreach efforts intended to communicate characteristics of the geospatial field to the public.

More details about the changes made can be found at this GeoTech Blog site.

Joseph Kerski, Esri Education Manager, also published an interesting article summarizing the importance of the GTCM, specifically to the GIS education community.
