2025 AGIC Symposium Call For Papers

The call for papers for the 2025 AGIC Education and Training Symposium is now open.  Please submit your abstracts to the Abstract Submission form no later than May 23, 2025.  

The AGIC Symposium is scheduled for August 26-29 and will be held at the Prescott Resort in Prescott, AZ.  Follow us on the AGIC-L Listserv or on social media to hear further announcements.

FCC publishes more-accurate nationwide LTE coverage map

How Maps Affect Perception

One thing that the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted is the importance of maps in conveying key data, such as infection trends and active cases. Maps can inform but also deceive, and the pandemic has examples of both. This is also true for other recent disasters such as fires in the Western United States or bushfires in Australia. In fact, deceptive maps have been a long-standing problem that can obfuscate critical information.

Datacubes in GIS

Datacubes (or data cubes) are a form of data structure, where data are stored in multidimensional arrays (n-D arrays); the data contain one or more spatial or temporal dimensions. Datacubes provide an effective way to apply analysis on spatiotemporal data, where data incorporate both raster and vector data along with potentially other information.
