2025 AGIC Symposium Call For Papers

The AGIC Symposium is coming up fast.  Plan to be at the Prescott Resort in beautiful Prescott, AZ from August 26-29 to network with and learn from other GIS Professionals and Vendors from across the state.  Important dates to remember:

*May 23: Abstract submissions due.  Submittal form.

*May 9: T-shirt Design Contest entries due. Entry guidelines.

*July 18: Scholarship applications due.  Includes the Tony Gonzales and Women in GIS Scholarships. 

*July 28: Last day for early bird registration

*Sponsorship sign-up now open.

*August 4: Last day for group room block at Prescott Resort.

Resources for Educators

Arizona Geographic Alliance: The purpose of the Arizona Geographic Alliance (AzGA) is to strengthen geography education in Arizona.  Their site offers lesson plans, activity books, and more focused on K-12 geography and GIS education.

Esri GIS for Schools: Resources for teachers, club leaders, school district administrators and more with links to activities, events, and resources for those involved in Kindergarten through 12th grade education.

Geospatial Revolution: Produced by WPSU Penn State, this site includes videos showcasing how geospatial technolgoy is changing the world.

Green Drone AZ: Green Drone AZ offers both middle and high school programs which allow students to explore topics of conservation, natural resource management, and technology such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), or drones. Concepts are first introduced to students at a broad level and then focused through the lens of a real-world conservation project located just outside of Mesa, AZ on the Lower Salt River, Tonto National Forest.

National Geographic Education: Videos, case studies, and resources categories by grade level and curated by the National Geographic Society.  Site also includes MapMaker lessons, where students can work with an interactive map.

Occupation Profile for GIS Technologist and Technicians: This US Department of Labor Career OneStop site provides valuable information for those interested in pursuing a career in GIS.  Those starting in the GIS field typically begin as a GIS Technologist/Technician, or equivalent.  This site provides useful information about the job, including projected employment, typical wages, necessary education or experience, and more.
