This article has noting to do with callers reporting OD's....but, instead, considers High in relation to elevation above or below the surrounding landscape. Location reporting remains two-dimensional. We correlate left and right, forward and back, or east and west, north and south—especially when dealing with maps. While this logic has worked in the past, the lack of a Z indicator for altitude creates an a problem for 9-1-1. How do dispatchers accurately direct fire or police when the cell phone caller is in a high-rise building? Since AGIC is actively working with statewide communities on 9-1-1, and is very active in standards and planning for NG911, this article, though not about AGIC, is posted in AGIC News.
